Colors: Arizona paints some pretty spectacular pictures in the heavens above. Glorious fire-in-the-sky sunrises (like the one above) are a treat to behold. Sunset palettes range from soft pastels to brilliant fluorescent hues.

Cactus flowers brighten the desert landscape with dabs of colors. Blossoms come in a variety of hues: orange, red, yellow, pink and gold. Blooming flowers can be found on saguaro, prickly pear, beaver tail and barrel cactus as well as some varieties of trees. Scatterings of poppies and other wildflowers adorn the desert, too.

Small desert rocks along the trail are clad in shimmering pinks, golds, oranges and reds. Larger rocks and boulders may sport a colorful coatings of fungus in light green, bright green, oranges and golds.

The saguaro cactus lend their vibrant green colorations to the desert scene.
